Maths Problem Solver

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 August 2026

This policy describes what Maths Problem Solver collects, why, and who it is shared with. It reflects what the app actually does — if a feature changes, this changes with it.

Your account

You can use the free tier without an account. Creating one — required before subscribing — stores your email address and a password with Google Firebase Authentication. We never see your password. Before you create an account, the app identifies you only by a random ID generated on your device.

What is stored in your account

When you are signed in, your display name, preferences, saved solutions and quiz progress are stored in Google Firebase so they are available if you change devices. Rules restrict this data so that only your account can read or write it. While you are signed out, everything stays on this device only.

Photos you choose to solve

When you tap “Solve,” that image is sent to our server and on to Google’s Gemini API solely to read the problem and produce a step-by-step solution. We do not keep a copy of the photo on our server after the solution is returned. Photos are never used for advertising and are never sold. A saved solution keeps its photo in your account so you can look back at it; deleting the saved solution deletes the photo with it.

Daily solve limits

To enforce the daily limit on each plan, our server records how many solves your account or device ID has used today and when that count resets. It holds no other information about you, and old counts are deleted automatically.

Advertising

The free tier shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device’s advertising identifier to select and measure ads and to limit how often you see the same one. In the EEA and the UK you are asked for consent first, and you can change that choice at any time from Settings → Ad privacy settings. Ads are treated as directed at a teen audience, which restricts what may be shown. Paid plans display no ads at all.

Subscriptions and payment

Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, not by us. We never receive or store your card details, billing address, or any payment information. Our provider RevenueCat records the purchase receipt and which plan is active so the app knows what you are entitled to.

Who we share data with

Google Firebase (accounts and stored content), Google’s Gemini API (solving the photo you submit), Google AdMob (advertising on the free tier), and RevenueCat (subscription status). We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.

Deleting your data

Settings → Account → Delete account permanently removes your account and everything stored with it. Note that this does not cancel a subscription — cancel that in your Apple or Google account. Settings → Reset this device erases what is stored locally. Signing out does not delete anything.

Children’s privacy

This app is intended for people aged 13 and over and is not directed at younger children. We do not ask for a birthdate, school year, or anything else that indicates a child’s age. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will change with it. Continued use of the app means you accept the current policy.
